Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Highway Engineering Designer to support projects across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia. The role offers collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and the use of advanced design tools to deliver sustainable transportation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and 4 years of highway/roadway design experience.
• EIT certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Valid US driver's license for site visits and meetings.
• Experience with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed and routine engineering assignments, including calculations, analyses, and design tasks for highway and roadway projects.
• Gather and correlate engineering data using established procedures; identify discrepancies and propose solutions using modifications of standard methods.
• Oversee the development of signing, pavement marking plans, construction phasing, and maintenance of traffic plans.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, identify utility conflicts, and resolve issues through interdisciplinary reviews and client feedback.
• Prepare construction specifications, quantities, cost estimates, technical reports, and 3D models using Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures; complete technical reviews and contribute to project staffing decisions.
• Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level engineers; contribute to proposals and presentations for new work.
• Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgment and proactively seeking process improvements.
