Job summary

Allianz Commercial in New York City seeks an Underwriter to support our Cargo line and underwriting international transit, stock throughput, and project cargo coverages. The role is hybrid with a NYC office base and requires building strong broker relationships and applying underwriting authority.

The candidate will underwrite profitable new and renewal business, negotiate terms, and maintain strict policy documentation, while collaborating with MMC, Claims, and other teams to drive market

Qualifications

• 1–3 years’ proven track record in underwriting profitable Marine Ocean Cargo.
• Established relationships with brokers at peer group level.
• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, Economics, Law or related field; professional qualification preferred.
• Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards for this LoB.
• Ability to analyze data from multiple sources and explain findings clearly.
• Proficient with office tools: PowerPoint, Excel, Word. AI tools awareness is valued.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets.
• Negotiate price and terms with key producer partners.
• Ensure contract certainty and proper use of pricing tools.
• Maintain accurate policy documentation and file maintenance.
• Support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business.
• Collaborate with market management and other functions.
