WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. (WSM) is a nonprofit organization that oversees American Job Centers in Wheaton and Germantown, providing employment services to residents.

The Career Advisor will develop IEPs, deliver job readiness training, assess training needs, and collaborate with Account Managers and Trainer/Education Specialists to align training with employment goals. Ideal candidates will guide clients to gainful employment, create resumes, and support them through pre- and post-placement

Qualifications

• Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data‑driven program evaluation.
• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people, especially those with extreme barriers to employment.

Responsibilities

• Work with un- or under-employed individuals to address barriers and obtain work.
• Develop individual employment plans (IEP) addressing steps to employment.
• Create and edit client resumes as needed.
• Provide pre- and post‑employment placement coaching and update IEP as required.
• Coordinate with agencies and organizations for referrals.
• Consult with staff to promote client goals and career-related needs.
• Communicate with clients monthly or more to get work-ready.
• Monitor and record progress in Maryland Workforce Exchange System.
• Close case files within 3 days of employment verification.
• Submit training requests per WSM policy and notate in MWES.
• Provide labor market information to help career decisions.
• Other duties as assigned.
