Job summary

Black & Veatch seeks a Virtual Design & Data Solutions Lead Engineering Technician to solve complex design challenges and guide site drainage, grading, and utility planning using Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation.

The role sits within the EPI group, supporting Battery Energy Storage System projects, with expert Civil 3D experience required and a focus on delivering high-quality, coordinated design deliverables.

Qualifications

Typically a minimum of 15 years related work experience.
Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology is required.
Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

Functions in a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisory role.
Applies advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline and contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions.
Utilizes digital design tools and software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) following standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
Responsible for technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance, while coordinating efforts across departments, teams, and stakeholders.
May supervise engineering technicians and support staff by coordinating, overseeing, and guiding design activities to ensure quality and alignment with project objectives.
