Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) seeks a Bookbinder to support the Graphics and Reproduction Unit, ensuring quality print materials and secure handling of sensitive records. You will operate multiple bindery and printing machines and coordinate with the team to meet customer needs.

Position reports to the Deputy Director, with responsibilities including setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance, while upholding legal standards for care, control, and

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in operating various commercial grade machines which assemble, drill, glue, fold, cut and bind printed material; or
• Three years of satisfactory bookbinding experience operating various commercial grade machines as described in '1' above; or
• Education and/or experience equivalent to '1' or '2' above.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate graphics design work and interface between the agency and customers under general supervision.
• Operates Challenge Cutters, Horizon Perfect Binder and MBO Folders.
• Performs job delivery and distribution.
• Sets up machinery and monitors operation to meet job specifications and produce uniform impressions.
• Maintains equipment and performs routine repairs.
• Reviews work and receives training on various reproduction machines.
