Job summary

MyOme seeks an experienced bioinformatics scientist/biostatistician contractor to develop new diagnostic software, leveraging genomics knowledge with robust statistics in streamlined bioinformatics workflows. This is a full-time contracting role spanning cross-team collaboration with external partners.

You will lead statistical algorithm development, build an analysis platform with QC, visualization and dashboards, and help design clinical validation plans ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in a quantitative field (statistics, genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related field)
  • 3 years experience in statistical analysis of NGS data
  • Coding fluency in R or Python
  • Experience planning and performing statistical analysis on genomics data
  • Experience working with next-generation sequencing data (exome, genome) and/or long-read technology (Nanopore, PacBio)
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools including bcftools, samtools, bedtools, plink, etc.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate the methodology of open source tools and implement new tools
  • Familiarity with genomic databases such as UCSC, NCBI (dbSNP, Clinvar), Ensembl
  • Experience managing computational tasks in a cloud environment (AWS or GCP)
  • Solid understanding of the Linux environment and shell scripting
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to a diverse audience
  • Experience working within a hybrid remote team
  • Experience with Nextflow is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of statistical algorithms to garner genomic insights in novel diagnostic areas and implement them in production-ready pipelines
  • Contribute to the build out of an analysis platform that incorporates quality control status, analysis, visualization and process dashboards for genomic data
  • Work with cross-functional teams to manage, process, analyze and interpret genomic data
  • Help design and conduct clinical validation study plans and reports
  • Work with our Clinical Lab Director to make sure all algorithms comply with regulatory standards
  • Work and communicate regularly with external partners or collaborators on shared projects
  • Contribute to intellectual property or publications
