Job summary

MyOme is seeking an experienced bioinformatics scientist/biostatistician contractor to develop new diagnostic software, building on existing bioinformatics and statistical methods for identifying signals from limited material. This full-time contracting position combines genomics knowledge with robust statistical techniques and streamlined bioinformatics workflows across MyOme and external partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in statistics, genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related field.
• 3+ years experience in statistical analysis of NGS data.
• Proficiency in R or Python.
• Experience planning and performing statistical analysis on genomics data.
• Experience with exome/genome NGS data and long-read tech is a plus.
• Experience with bcftools, samtools, bedtools, plink, etc.
• Ability to evaluate open-source tools and implement new ones.
• Familiarity with UCSC, NCBI, Ensembl databases.
• Cloud experience (AWS or GCP).
• Solid Linux shell scripting skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working in a hybrid remote team.
• Experience with Nextflow is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of statistical algorithms for genomic insights in new diagnostic areas.
• Contribute to building an analysis platform with QC, analysis, visualization, and dashboards for genomic data.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to process, analyze and interpret genomic data.
• Design and conduct clinical validation study plans and reports.
• Ensure algorithms comply with regulatory standards with the Clinical Lab Director.
• Collaborate with external partners or collaborators on shared projects.
• Contribute to intellectual property or publications.
