Job summary

Serco Inc. is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to enhance reliability, security, and performance of AWS-hosted apps and infrastructure. The role emphasizes automation, IaC, and CI/CD improvements across Linux, containers, and orchestration platforms.

You’ll collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to implement monitoring, incident response, and secure deployment pipelines, with hybrid on-site support at the Pentagon up to 80%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 10 years of experience in systems administration, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related role
• Active interim or Secret security clearance
• Active CompTIA Security+ certification
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure
• Experience administering Linux (RHEL preferred)
• Experience with Docker container technologies
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes / Amazon EKS / ECS)
• Experience building/managing container images and registries
• Experience developing/maintaining/troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines
• Working knowledge of Git and source-control practices
• Scripting/automation with Python, Bash
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing)
• Troubleshooting complex issues across apps, OS, networks, infra
• Ability to collaborate across teams
• Ability to travel 10%

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for AWS cloud infrastructure, Linux, containers, CI/CD, automation, and best practices
• Architect and improve reliability, availability, performance, and security of AWS-hosted apps/infrastructure
• Design and support containerized apps with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux (RHEL) servers
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and configuration-management standards
• Develop and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines for build/test/scan/deploy
• Design and implement container orchestration platforms and automated deployments
• Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and ops tasks
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability
• Lead root-cause analysis and incident response activities
• Identify repetitive ops tasks and automate to reduce risk
• Integrate security controls and automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain operational runbooks and run documentation
• Support system patching, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening
