Job summary

Neya Systems, a division of Applied Research Associates, seeks an Autonomy Engineer to advance autonomy software for unmanned ground vehicles. The role is hybrid, onsite three days per week in Warrendale, PA with some remote days.

You will integrate software with sensors, work with navigation, perception, planning, and robotics behavior, collaborate across engineering teams, travel 10–25% for testing, and contribute to code reviews and best practices.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Experience with robotic sensors, hardware integration, or mobile robotics projects.
• Strong debugging, algorithms, and unit testing skills.
• Hands-on work with hardware and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Integrate autonomy software with robotic platforms and onboard sensors.
• Support bring-up, testing, and debugging of autonomy components in lab and field environments.
• Contribute to software modules related to navigation, perception, planning, or robotic behaviors.
• Work with senior engineers to diagnose performance issues and develop solutions.
• Participate in field tests, collect and analyze data, and validate autonomy performance.
• Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, perception, and systems teams.
• Contribute to documentation, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Travel occasionally (10–25%) for testing or project support.
