Neya Systems / ARA is seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer to lead design, integration, and optimization of autonomy capabilities across UGV platforms. You will mentor engineers and collaborate across perception, planning, controls, and embedded software teams to deliver high‑reliability autonomy solutions.

The role is hybrid with three days per week onsite at Warrendale, PA, involving field tests, data analysis, and customer interactions to shape next‑generation autonomy software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in robotics, CS, engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of autonomy/robotics experience (UGV preferred).
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for real‑time robotics applications.
  • Strong understanding of autonomy subsystems: planning, controls, navigation, or sensor fusion.
  • Hands‑on experience with sensors and hardware integration; software design and debugging.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of autonomy algorithms and system components.
  • Integrate autonomy software with robotic platforms and sensor suites.
  • Drive investigations, root‑cause analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Lead field tests, evaluate autonomy behavior, analyze data, and guide improvements.
  • Collaborate with perception, planning, controls, and systems engineering teams to ensure cohesive behavior.
  • Serve as technical point of contact for customers and stakeholders; conduct reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers in autonomy development and robotics integration.
  • Support customer demos, experiments, and technical events.
  • Travel 10‑25% depending on testing and project needs.
