Placements24 is actively seeking an Automotive Performance Engineer to join our client in Welkom, Free State. The role emphasizes designing, testing, and refining high-performance vehicle systems, with hybrid work options for hands-on facilities and remote data analysis.

You will calibrate engines, analyze data, and push automotive performance boundaries while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver optimized power, efficiency, and emissions improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in automotive performance engineering or tuning.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, thermodynamics, and powertrain engineering.
• Proficiency with data acquisition systems and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink).
• Experience with dyno testing and performance vehicle calibration.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong technical report writing and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test performance-oriented automotive components and systems (engine, suspension, aero).
• Conduct performance testing and data acquisition using advanced instrumentation and simulations.
• Analyze test data and implement optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to implement enhancements.
• Develop and refine engine calibration and tuning parameters for power, efficiency, and emissions.
