Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an engineer to design instrumentation and control systems, including P&ID development, PLC and HMI programming, and associated testing activities. You will review drawings, mentor junior staff, and support proposals, with travel up to 40% as project demands.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years of related experience and demonstrate strong communication and MS Office skills while applying 3D/4D design practices across Water/Wastewater or related

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency varies by workload and project demands.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D/4D design practices.
• Assist with specification development and PLC/HMI programming.
• Review component-level drawings and provide testing oversight.
• Develop PIDs, control system architectures, specifications and control descriptions.
• Lead and mentor junior staff; review their work as needed.
• Support proposal sections and marketing activities related to Automation strategy.
