Job summary

Paralyzed Veterans of America is seeking an Associate Director of Communications to serve as an account lead for multiple programs, providing expertise and strategies to raise exposure for the organization’s mission. The role partners with leadership, staff, and external partners to drive communications initiatives across campaigns and events.

The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of media/PR experience, strong copywriting abilities, and excellent project management skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of media and public relations experience.
• Strong project management skills with experience leading multiple projects.
• Excellent copywriting and communications abilities.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Excellent customer relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a project lead for assigned departments and report out on key items.
• Develop media and PR materials including press releases, fact sheets, talking points, and pitches.
• Assist with writing opinion pieces and letters to editors when called upon.
• Manage media lists and coordinate annual report development and delivery.
• Plan photography efforts and develop story ideas to promote PVA programs.
• Oversee vendors, freelancers, and interns; coordinate with Director of Marketing and Communications.

Education

BS degree in Communications, Marketing, or a relevant field
