AARP is seeking an Associate State Director, Advocacy & Communications to lead strategic communications across multi‑channel platforms, develop advocacy campaigns, and build relationships with media and elected officials. The role involves recruiting volunteers, coordinating with cross‑functional teams, and guiding the state‑level implementation of national campaigns.

Qualificações

• BA degree plus a minimum of 5 years of experience related to the duties of the position.
• Demonstrated understanding of the state’s political and community service environment.
• Experience in government relations and grassroots organizing preferred.
• Experience planning, executing, and evaluating strategic communications campaigns with cross‑functional teams.
• Proficient in digital, social media, and strategic communications; knowledge of Canva/Clipchamp/PowerPoint and AI tools.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement multi‑channel communications strategies to inform, educate, and influence target audiences.
• Build relationships with media outlets and act as a spokesperson when needed.
• Produce communications content across social, digital, earned media and owned channels.
• Develop and execute advocacy strategies at local, state, and federal levels with partners.
• Represent the organization to elected officials and government agencies.
• Monitor legislation and advocate for organizational interests before bodies.
• Recruit, train, and deploy volunteers aligned with organizational goals.
