Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its civil litigation team in Charlotte. The position offers hybrid schedule and exposure to diverse civil matters across multiple practice areas, with an emphasis on developing courtroom and advocacy skills.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of civil litigation experience, a J.D. from an accredited law school, and an active North Carolina license, along with strong research, writing, and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in North Carolina.
• 1+ year of civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, or other litigation documents.
• Exposure to depositions, hearings, trial preparation, or other aspects of civil litigation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Sound judgment, professionalism, and a client-focused approach.
• Desire to continue developing as a civil litigator and take on increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned litigation matters with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Conduct legal research and analyze legal issues, claims, defenses, and case strategy.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Manage written discovery and participate in the discovery process.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions.
• Assist with trial preparation and, as experience develops, participate in hearings, arbitrations, and trial proceedings.
• Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments.
• Work with partners, senior attorneys, clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other professionals to develop facts and advance cases.
• Evaluate legal and factual issues and help develop practical litigation strategies.
• Participate in negotiations and settlement discussions.
