Job summary

Willis Re Intermediaries Inc. in Minneapolis (hybrid) seeks an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in leading accounting, financial reporting, tax, audits, compliance, and finance operations.

The role focuses on accuracy, internal controls, and partnering with other functions to improve processes and performance. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, deep U.S.

Qualifications

• Essential Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
• Preferred 5–10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting controls.
• Experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating audits and supporting tax compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Lead all month, quarter, and year-end closing cycles to ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP and policies.
• Tax Management: Coordinate the preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and international tax returns; manage tax provision calculations and deferred tax accounting with external advisors.
• Audits & Controls: Primary point of contact for external auditors; develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Operations Oversight: Strategic oversight for day-to-day financial activities across GL, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Treasury.
• Team & Project Leadership: Drive finance transformation projects; coach and develop accounting staff to foster a collaborative culture.
