Job summary
County of Sonoma is seeking an Assistant Engineer to perform complex calculations, site evaluations, and inspections, focusing on road repairs and drainage projects within Sonoma Public Infrastructure. The role requires Engineer-in-Training certification and offers a path to Engineer level recruitment.
The position is full-time with potential hybrid telework, a competitive salary up to $67.64/hour ($141,172/year), and a comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and paid time
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and one year of professional engineering experience.
- Engineer-in-Training Certification required for Assistant Engineer level; CA PE license directs to Engineer level recruitment.
- Ability to review plans, cost estimates, schedules, and specifications with engineering judgment.
Responsibilities
- Lead diverse construction projects including transportation facilities and drainage improvements.
- Review plans, specifications, costs, schedules, and proposed field changes.
- Oversee contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Monitor budgets and schedules; identify risks and coordinate corrective actions.
- Perform field inspections to ensure compliance with plans and standards.
