Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Applied AI Engineer to design, build, evaluate, and deploy production-grade AI/ML solutions addressing complex business and engineering problems across RTX. You will design AI systems that use Generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic AI, while collaborating with AI Architecture, Platform Engineering, Data, Evaluation, Cybersecurity, and business teams.

The role is hybrid with commuting distance to Farmington, CT, Charlotte, NC, and other RTX

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, or related STEM field with 8+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience deploying AI/ML solutions into production environments.
• Strong Python programming and production-quality software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI/ML solutions using traditional ML, Generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic AI techniques.
• Build AI agents and intelligent workflows that interact with enterprise data and tools with appropriate human oversight.
• Develop retrieval and context-engineering solutions using embeddings, vector databases, and enterprise search.
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise apps, APIs, data sources, and tools via standard interfaces (e.g., MCP).
• Evaluate models and approaches for quality, reliability, latency, security, and scalability; create evaluation cases.
