Job summary

Tulip Interfaces is seeking a software engineer to join a hybrid team in Somerville, MA, building an internal agentic AI platform and developer tools used by engineers daily. You will design, build, and deploy AI-enabled tooling that scales across our stack and ensures safe, reliable code execution.

You will work with product engineering, infrastructure, and QA to push forward internal tooling, with a focus on efficiency, reliability, and end-to-end developer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with a focus on developer tooling, platform engineering, or internal-facing/DevX systems.
• Meaningful hands-on experience building with AI/LLMs and shipping agentic solutions.
• Proven ability to build internal tools that make powerful AI capabilities accessible to engineers, including the judgment to know when to build vs. buy, and when to standardize vs. let teams experiment.
• A natural collaborator who earns trust with engineers quickly, understands real engineering pain points, and co-creates solutions that get adopted.
• Strong full-stack proficiency (TypeScript and related ecosystem), deep familiarity with API design and integration, and comfort across a modern engineering stack.
• Deep hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, agent frameworks, RAG, and tool-use/function-calling patterns.
• Production experience with AWS, modern CI/CD practices, and AI safety/ security considerations around code execution and internal access.
• Experience with developer experience fundamentals: reducing friction, measuring engineering productivity, treating internal tooling like a product.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams to identify high-leverage AI opportunities in the developer workflow, from code generation to testing and internal tooling.
• Build and maintain the internal agentic AI platform engineers rely on daily: skills, plugins, MCP servers, and integrations across our tech stack.
• Own foundational architecture and standards for agents and model releases: evaluation, deployment, reliability, and secure tool access patterns.
• Build and improve onboarding, documentation, and discovery layers for engineers to find and adopt AI tools.
• Stay plugged into agentic AI trends externally to shape internal standards and roadmaps.
• Contribute to AI enablement through learning programs, office hours, and change management as tools roll out.
• Instrument adoption and impact of internal AI tooling and prioritize what to build next.
