Job summary

Tulip, the leader in AI-native frontline operations, is hiring a backend-focused engineer for its hybrid Somerville, MA office. You will build robust backend systems, improve internal tooling with a product mindset, and leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and reliability.

The role requires 3+ years in software engineering, strong backend language skills, and experience with cloud-native or hybrid solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping complex backend systems.
• Strong skills in at least one modern backend programming language.
• Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
• Solid understanding of cloud native or cloud hybrid solutions.
• A product mindset toward internal tooling and iteration from feedback.
• Comfort using AI-powered engineering tools in day-to-day workflow.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain clean, high-quality, efficient, and well-tested code.
• Design and implement abstractions bridging software engineering and DevOps.
• Talk to engineers using the platform to identify time-wasters and translate into work.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to build tooling that teams adopt.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for self-serve engineering.
• Use AI-assisted tooling to improve productivity and platform reliability.
