Job summary

Engine is seeking a high-judgment Controller to elevate its accounting function during rapid growth. You will lead the Accounting leadership team, push for clearer ownership, and accelerate automation and AI-driven close processes to scale with the business.

You will partner across Finance, Tax, Legal, and Product to modernize the close and improve efficiency while maintaining strong controls and technical accuracy. A hybrid work model is offered.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting leadership in a high-growth environment.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Experience building leadership depth and talent density.
• Automation/AI-driven accounting improvements.
• Strong multi-entity close, reconciliation, and financial statement experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the core Accounting leadership team, including Assistant Controller/GL, AR, Payroll, and Tax.
• Raise operating bar across Accounting with clearer ownership and faster execution.
• Scale AI and automation to reduce manual work and increase capacity.
• Modernize the 5-day close; strengthen ownership of revenue, AR, payroll, tax, and reports.
• Drive cross-functional execution with Product, Finance, Tax, Legal, and Systems.
