United Way of New York City is seeking a Director of Advocacy and Policy to lead policy analysis, advocacy strategies, and government relations efforts in New York City. You will translate community insights into actionable policy materials and coordinate cross‑department collaboration to advance UWNYC priorities.

The role requires strong leadership, collaboration across teams, and a deep understanding of NYC and NYS legislative processes, with a focus on equity and impact for New Yorkers.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in public policy, public administration, political science, or related field preferred.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible experience in public policy, advocacy, government relations, or legislative affairs.
• Strong knowledge of NYC and NYS legislative and budget processes, with familiarity with federal policy processes.
• Ability to analyze legislation, budgets, and policy issues and communicate implications clearly.
• Strong research, writing, presentation, and project management skills.
• Experience coordinating advocacy initiatives, participating in coalitions, and maintaining external partnerships.

Mansioni

• Implement assigned city, state, and federal policy and advocacy initiatives in alignment with AVP priorities.
• Monitor legislation, budgets, and regulations and assess implications for UWNYC programs.
• Develop policy recommendations and draft organizational positions for review and approval.
• Maintain relationships with elected officials, staff, agencies, and coalition partners.
• Coordinate legislative meetings, lobby days, and related advocacy activities including logistics and follow-up.
• Represent UWNYC in designated meetings and communicate approved organizational positions.
