United Way of New York City is seeking a Director of Advocacy and Policy to lead policy analysis, develop positions, and coordinate government relations across city, state, and federal levels. You will translate community insights into actionable recommendations and work with partners to advance UWNYC priorities.

The role requires a master’s degree or higher, at least five years in public policy, and strong writing, research, and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible experience in public policy, advocacy, government relations, or legislative affairs.
• Knowledge of New York City and New York State legislative and budget processes.
• Ability to analyze legislation, budgets, and policy issues and communicate their implications clearly.
• Strong research, writing, presentation, and project management skills.
• Experience coordinating advocacy initiatives and maintaining external partnerships.

Responsabilités

• Implement city, state, and federal policy and advocacy initiatives.
• Monitor legislation, budgets, and regulations; assess implications for UWNYC programs.
• Develop policy recommendations and draft organizational positions for review and approval.
• Maintain relationships with elected officials, staff, agencies, and coalitions.
• Coordinate legislative meetings, lobby days, and related advocacy activities.
• Represent UWNYC in meetings and communicate approved organizational positions.
• Collaborate with teams to connect advocacy with program priorities and community needs.
