Job summary

Maricopa County's Human Services Department seeks an Accounting Specialist contractor to coordinate and process department purchase requests, accounts payable, travel, and provide support for finance and audit activities in line with federal and county guidelines.

The role emphasizes two years of procurement or clerical accounting experience and the ability to obtain CAPA certification within two months of hire, with travel across county sites as needed and a strong commitment to public service.

Qualifications

• Two years of procurement, clerical accounting, bookkeeping, or similar experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Compile, record, and reconcile accounts and financial transactions.
• Post information and balance ledgers and accounts.
• Process payments and/or billings.
• Perform accounts receivable duties.
• Prepare monthly closings and annual reports.
• Maintain accounting and financial records.
• Process journal vouchers.
• Research account issues.
• Audit budgetary and expenditure documents.
• Gather data and prepare worksheets and reports.
• Explain accounting procedures to employees and the public.
• Senior incumbents may train or lead others.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
