Job summary

The Meritex Company is seeking an accounting and capital markets intern to support our teams during Summer 2027. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Accountant, you will contribute to general ledger work, financial reporting, and analysis, while gaining hands-on exposure to the industrial real estate sector.

Qualifications

• Third‑ or fourth‑year students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
• Strong academic credentials and interest in commercial real estate, accounting, finance, capital markets, or investment analysis.
• Strong data entry, organizational, writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail, ability to follow oral and written instructions, and manage multiple projects.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted productivity tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Corporate Accountant in the preparation of monthly reporting packages.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and post supporting journal entries to the general ledger.
• Prepare and post monthly recurring journal entries to the general ledger.
• Prepare and enter fixed asset additions to the fixed asset system and post depreciation to the general ledger.
• Verify and process details of business transactions such as billings, cash receipts, and accounts payable into the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and review GL variances.
• Update debt information and prepare and post entries to the accounting system for mortgage payments.
• Assist in various accounting projects as needed to support the accounting team.
• Support financial analyses related to capital markets and strategic planning.
• Assist with investor communications and special projects as needed.
