Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking an Accountant II to join the Treasury Management and Financial Reporting team in Rockville, Maryland. This full-time, exempt role offers a hybrid schedule with two telework days per week after a six-month probationary period.

Under supervision, you will perform professional accounting duties, including reconciling complex general ledger accounts, preparing financial and audit reports, and assisting with year-end reporting, in collaboration with Accounts Receivable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Three years of professional accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GASB recommendations and related regulations.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and reconcile accounts and create journal entries.
• Prepare periodic reports and financial statements.
• Perform complex reconciliation activities of general ledger accounts.
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to reconcile cash receipts, deposits and clearing accounts.
• Investigate discrepancies in accounts and correct them.
• Interpret data from GL records and develop spreadsheets for reporting.
• Assist with year-end external reporting and Financial Statement development.
• Respond to inquiries from college units, vendors, auditors and financial institutions.
• Pursue ongoing GAAP and GASB education to ensure proper reporting.
