Purdue University Northwest is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support diverse financial operations within the Business Office. The role spans accounts payable, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, billing, property accounting, and financial reporting.

The position is hybrid, offering up to three remote days per week with two on campus, based at Hammond or Westville. Travel between Hammond, Westville, and Gabis Arboretum is required periodically for inventory and other duties.

Qualifications

• Two years of fiscal or business administration work experience.
• Experience in SAP and University setting preferred.
• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.

Responsibilities

• Back-up audit and entry of DIVs and credit memos in SAP.
• Contact person for accounts payable questions for campus and external customers.
• New/change vendor requests in Payment Works. International Wire confirmations.
• Train staff, internal and external customers on DIV policies and procedures – Semester and as needed basis.
• Performs general ledger maintenance and analyzation; to include the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual journal vouches and account reconciliations, central accounts and balance sheet, as assigned.
• Prepares monthly scholarship account analysis and reporting and leads efforts to ensure appropriate funds transfers have been made.
• Responsible for Non-Student FI/AR Billing system and Business Office Training.
• Responsible for preparing/approving/posting intercampus billings such as U-Store (Revenue and Fees) and Campus recharges.
• Ensures billings are occurring at approved rates and appropriate support is provided.
• Responsible for Property Tax payments processing bi-annually and associated reporting.
• Responsible for Special Project reporting and project close-outs, along with capitalization reports/review.
• Oversee Property Accounting.
• Manage the university's fixed asset and inventory control process.
• Record new assets, track existing assets (transfers and disposal) and assist with the coordination of the bi-annual physical inventory verification.
• Train staff on Property Management process and procedures.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts and function as backup for accounts assigned to other staff.
• Prepare unclaimed property report for submission to the State.
• Prepares annual review of Cash Handling Plans, revolving funds and necessary reporting collection and is the campus Liaison for Cash Accounts.
• Back-up for Daily Banner Feed entries, daily bank reconciliations.
