Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an experienced Adult Education instructor to deliver GED preparation across multiple regional sites in Minnesota and through online sessions. The role combines in-person instruction with distance learning, aligning with state standards and the GED framework.

The position requires a Minnesota Teaching License, a Bachelor’s degree, and 1–2 years of adult education experience. Travel between sites is expected, with mileage reimbursement provided as part of the benefits package.

Qualifications

• Licensure: Valid Minnesota Teaching License issued by PELSB (any field or K-12/secondary preferred).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Content Specialties, or a related field.
• Experience: 1–2 years teaching adult learners in ABE/GED prep preferred.
• Technical Savvy: Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and web conferencing tools (Google Meet).
• Travel: Ability to travel reliably to regional sites; mileage reimbursement provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality lessons in-person and via virtual platforms across multiple regional sites and online sessions.
• Align daily lesson plans with Minnesota ABE ACES framework and Northstar Digital Literacy standards.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learner backgrounds, levels, and styles across sites and virtual classrooms.
• Administer and analyze standardized progress tests (CASAS/TABE) to monitor GED readiness.
• Utilize blended learning to build students' digital literacy for the computer-based GED exam.
• Provide academic counseling, goal-setting support, and regular feedback to boost retention and completion.
