Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Adult Basic Education Substitute Teacher to provide direct instruction to adult students at multiple locations (ABE, Blaine, Columbia Heights, Brooklyn Center). The position uses in-person, online, and hyflex modalities and offers varying hours with ongoing start date.

Qualified candidates hold a Minnesota teaching license, or ABE or substitute license, and possess strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Current MN Teaching License, or ABE license, or Sub License.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to adult students working on basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Monitor student attendance, complete necessary student record keeping, and provide support for on-site literacy assistants and volunteers as requested.
• Use cooperative teaching strategies during instruction and integrating technology into learning.
• Other duties as assigned.
