Job summary

Hyatt House New Orleans is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role covers maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, and back‑of‑house areas in a fast‑paced hotel environment.

As part of the team you will perform preventative maintenance, respond to service calls, troubleshoot building systems, and complete repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and kitchen equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience in hotel or commercial maintenance
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical systems
• Strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills

As a General Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, and back-of-house areas throughout the hotel. This hands-on position supports the day-to-day operation of the property by performing preventative maintenance, responding to guest service calls, troubleshooting building-related issues, and completing repairs across a variety of trades.

The ideal candidate will possess a broad maintenance background with experience in general building systems, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, kitchen, and laundry equipment repairs. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional guest service are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• Previous general maintenance experience in a hotel, commercial building, apartment community, or similar environment preferred
• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
• Excellent communication and guest service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift equipment as needed
