Job summary

Hy-Vee in Overland Park, KS seeks a Hy-Chi Department Clerk to deliver friendly service, take orders, and help keep the Hy-Chi area stocked and clean. You’ll greet customers, assist with their needs, and work with the team to provide a positive experience in a fast-paced store environment.

No prior experience required—we offer training to help you succeed. This role involves standing for long periods, food preparation, and cash handling as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and POS transactions.
• Clear communication with customers and co-workers.
• Willingness to learn sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers and taking orders at the Hy-Chi counter.
• Review orders and ensure adequate food supply by following a production list.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish products and manage cooler/freezer items.
• Maintain food freshness and quality standards throughout the shift.
• Operate the department register, handle payments, and provide friendly service.
