Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL seeks a Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation Engineer to support flight-system development across programs such as Small Glide Munition and Small Cruise Missile. You will manage HWIL infrastructure, understand flight-vehicle capabilities, and coordinate with program leadership.

The role requires a 12+ year engineering degree background (or 10+ years with MS), 6-DOF simulation experience, and HWIL test design, with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering with relevant experience to meet the listed requirements.
• 12+ years experience for Bachelor’s, 10+ years for Master’s in relevant field.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and reside in North Alabama/Huntsville area.

Responsibilities

• Manage the hardware-in-the-loop simulation infrastructure for flight system programs.
• Understand flight vehicle capabilities and how to test them in HWIL.
• Coordinate with program leadership and subsystem engineers on integration and testing of components, software and simulations.
• Develop test cases for regression testing and V&V activities, document tests and results, and communicate deficiencies.
• Support flight test planning through HWIL testing of mission plans in nominal and abnormal conditions.
