Job summary

The State of Connecticut, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) invites qualified candidates for the position of Qualified Craft Worker (HVACR) to join the Physical Plant team. This full-time role focuses on HVACR systems, maintenance, and repairs in a high-demand environment.

The position is 37.5 hours per week, 1st shift, Monday–Friday, located at 287 West Street, Rocky Hill, CT. Licensing requirements apply; opportunities for professional growth and a healthy work-life balance are offered.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience in tasks in HVACR trade.
• Two (2) years of General Experience in skilled HVACR trades.
• Licensing/certifications: CT heating, piping, and/or cooling license may be required.
• Substitutions allowed: vocational diploma may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly skilled HVACR work on heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration systems.
• Operate, maintain, repair, install, and modify HVACR equipment including Freon and chilled water.
• Monitor and troubleshoot computerized control systems for proper airflow and performance.
• Plan and estimate materials, determine cooling requirements and work with minimal supervision.
• Interpret psychrometric charts and perform minor fuel tests and gas leak checks.
