Job summary

Elon University is seeking an HVACR Mechanic II to perform routine preventive maintenance on university heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration systems on the Elon Main Campus.

Under supervision, you will monitor equipment, complete work orders, and support the HVACR team during on-call shifts; a valid NC driver’s license is required to access campus facilities and campus vehicles.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Vocational or technical training in HVACR.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on university HVACR equipment.
  • Complete assigned work orders and report results accurately.
  • Support supervisor and senior mechanics with nonroutine maintenance.
  • Adjust boiler and chiller set points using BAS during on-call shifts.

Position Summary

This position works under the direction of the HVACR Supervisor and the Lead HVACR Mechanic I performs the routine preventive maintenance of all university-maintained heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration mechanical equipment.
This position is identified as Essential Staff, responsible for maintaining the core functions and operations of the university, especially during emergencies, crises, or situations that require continuity of essential services.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Basic understanding of HVACR principles.
Basic understanding of Boiler system principles.
Demonstrated Problem Solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication

Required Other Training, Certifications, or Licensing

Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License and be insurable by the university’s carrier.

Job Duties
  • The HVACR Mechanic II performs the routine scheduled preventive maintenance of all university-maintained heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration mechanical equipment. Tasks include but not limited to; monitoring, servicing, accurate reporting, and mechanical room cleanliness.
  • The HVACR Mechanic II completes assigned work orders and accurately reporting results
  • The HVACR Mechanic II supports the HVACR Supervisor, Lead HVACR Mechanic I, and HVACR Mechanic I with the nonroutine maintenance of all university-maintained HVACR infrastructures
  • The HVACR Mechanic II makes adjustments to set points of Boiler and Chiller plants using the BAS during on-call shifts.
