Job summary

Mechanical Technologies LLC is seeking a qualified VFD Specialist to support ABB HVAC drive applications, sales, and service. The role covers troubleshooting, training, and technical leadership for projects in the New York/New Jersey area.

The candidate will liaise with engineers, contractors, and inside/outside sales teams, provide on-site support when needed, and stay current on industry trends and local rebates for VFDs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or technical training with relevant focus.
• 3–5 years hands-on HVAC or similar equipment experience with VFDs.
• Active electrical license or equivalent experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide phone and email troubleshooting for end-users, contractors, and the service team.
• Offer onsite troubleshooting with metering equipment for VFDs and controls.
• Train service team on VFD start-ups and troubleshooting; contribute to owner/contractor training.
• Develop and support in-house demos for engineer/customer visits.
• Assist sales in identifying correct VFDs and review specifications with sales team.
• Perform harmonic calculations and promote mitigation strategies.
