HVAC Variable Frequency Drive Field SpecialistImagine your day: You start with a service ticket for a university air handler that’s tripping on fault. By mid-morning you’re commissioning a new VFD on a hospital pump, verifying parameters, running through start‑up, and documenting readings. After lunch, you’re tracing a control loop at a government office, meter in hand, to isolate a communication issue between the BMS and a drive. You wrap the day updating your service log in Outlook and Excel before heading home.What you’ll work onInstall, commission, troubleshoot, and perform routine service on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) serving pumps, fans, AHUs, and cooling tower applications.Use the right tools for the job: hand/power tools, multimeters, clamp meters, and harmonic analyzers; run wire, pull cable, and complete neat conduit work.Travel on site to a variety of facilities—hospitals, universities, schools, water treatment plants, and commercial/government offices.Work safely around high-voltage equipment (up to 480V) and low-voltage controls (around 24VDC).Territory you’ll coverWestern Pennsylvania, Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Southern Michigan.What you bring3+ years of hands-on field experience with VFDs.Background with VFDs in AHUs, pump systems, and cooling towers (preferred).Ability to interpret the HVAC control loop, circuitry, and schematics.Working knowledge or experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites.Capable of lifting at least 75 lbs.Comfort with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.Clear written and verbal communication skills and a strong desire to learn.Tools & EnvironmentYou’ll routinely interact with mechanical and electrical teams, coordinate with facility staff, and document findings. Precision, safety, and customer communication are key.CompensationEstimated: $24 – $50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
