Job summary

Ambient Enterprises is seeking a Service Technician VFD to install, start up, troubleshoot, and service Variable Frequency Drives in large commercial buildings throughout Western Pennsylvania and nearby states. You will work with pumps and fans in AHUs and cooling towers, handling up to 480VDC systems and low-voltage controls.

The role requires 3+ years of VFD hands-on experience, good knowledge of electrical wiring, and ability to lift 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on VFD experience in the field.
• Lifting ability of at least 75 lbs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Preference for experience with VFDs in AHUs, pumps, and cooling towers.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willingness to work and learn.

Responsibilities

• Installing, starting up, troubleshooting, and general service of VFDs.
• Use of hand and power tools, running wires, conduit work, and electronic measuring tools (multimeters, amp clamps, harmonic analyzers).

Job Description

Role: Service Technician VFD

We are seeking field service technician both experienced and entry level to work on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in the commercial HVAC market. These drives are used to control motor speeds on pumps and fans in large commercial buildings such as hospitals, universities, schools, water treatment plants, government and commercial offices. Our technicians work with large AC Voltages up to 480VDC as well as small control voltages such as 24VDC. Therefore, a working knowledge of electrical components and electricity in general is necessary. The areas we service include Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Southern Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Installing, starting up, troubleshooting, and general service of VFDs
• Knowing proper operation of hand and power tools, running wires, conduit work, and use of electronic measuring tools – multi-meters, amp clamps, and harmonic analyzers
• Traveling to clients

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on VFD experience in the field
• Prior experience with VFDs as they apply to AHUs, pump applications, and cooling towers is a plus
• Working knowledge of the HVAC loop, circuitry, and schematics
• Building Management Systems experience / working knowledge
• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suites (Outlook, Excel, Word)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Willingness to work and learn

Estimated Compensation

$24 - $50 hourly based on experience.
