Job Description

What you will do:

Do you have HVAC experience? We are looking for HVAC systems mechanics who have worked in light commercial and/or heavy commercial markets to join our team. You will work with the most advanced heavy commercial and industrial cutting-edge equipment.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of five (5) years of practical, working experience in the HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, and/or mechanical equipment service industry.
• Ability to pass a satisfactory examination to demonstrate your special skills.

Responsibilities:

Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues. As a trusted advisor, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

How will you do it:

• Have practical experience with light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. May need to pass an exam to verify special skills. Scope of work is limited to commercial HVACR service.
• Partner with Journeymen in repairing centrifugal, steam turbines, absorption machines, open-drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes supporting your recommendations and solutions.
• Repair equipment such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, and control devices safely and efficiently.
• Proactively check and repair refrigerant leaks.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks on refrigeration/HVAC systems as assigned.
• Monitor and log refrigerant usage.
• Participate in the company’s “on call” emergency program after hours.
• Assist with troubleshooting problems.
• Complete equipment inventories as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

What we look for:

Required:

• At least two (2) years of troubleshooting experience in commercial and/or industrial refrigeration within the HVAC industry.
• Prior experience with commercial refrigeration systems such as grocery store coolers, walk-in coolers, self-contained refrigerators, ice machines, rack systems, etc.
• Ability to obtain a 30-hour OSHA certification, to be completed after hours and on weekends.
• Good computer skills, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience with supermarket rack systems, display cases, ice machines, and walk-ins is highly desirable.
• Journeyman qualification in refrigeration and HVAC systems, or equivalent work experience.
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling classes I & II, or universal.

This is a bargaining unit position.
