Overview

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking a HVAC Apprentice to perform maintenance and service on mechanical equipment and controls at client sites. The role includes troubleshooting, recommending solutions, and upselling opportunities to improve building efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Train and perform work on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls.
• Participate in Service Technical Academy training to build skills.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical and customer issues.
• Keep JCI, contractors, and customers informed of job progress.
• Adhere to required union training and safety requirements.
• Provide recommendations and quotes to ensure efficient facility operation.

Qualifications

• Member or willing to join United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry, AFL‑CIO.
• 1+ years of HVAC industry experience or servicing mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation/servicing.
• Effective interpersonal communication and professional ethical conduct.
• Leadership support for mechanics on non‑complex, non‑critical HVAC equipment.
• Self‑starter capable of working independently over time.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: 1‑2 years trade school or college with technical emphasis.

Benefits

Union‑aligned benefits under a collective bargaining agreement. This is a bargaining unit position with hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet.
