Job description

What you will do

Join an HVAC apprenticeship program to gain technical knowledge and factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA).

Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items. As a trusted advisor, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

How you will do it

• Apprentices will be trained and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy, building skill sets for ongoing recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Use coaching and mentorship to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs.
• Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training for the first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers ethically and professionally.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
• Self‑starter with ability to work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred

• 1–2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

Pay and Benefits

Hourly rate: $24.08, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
