Base pay range

$16.00/hr - $16.00/hr

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems. Ensure high customer satisfaction through direct on-site interaction. Mentor peers on mechanical HVAC installation and service activities. Properly complete all required project and service documentation. Provide solutions to improve building efficiencies and resolve service issues, acting as a trusted advisor to customers.

How You Will Do It

Apprentices will perform all pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service work as assigned by the Employer, within their capabilities and under supervision. Provide recommendations and solutions to enhance facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities, and support with quotes.

Routine service and inspections include:

  • Changing and servicing filters
  • Oiling and greasing
  • Adjusting or replacing belts
  • Cleaning cooling towers, coils, evaporator, and condenser tubes
  • General housekeeping
  • Mechanical system operation under contract
  • Cleaning and maintaining solar energy equipment
  • Indoor Air Quality work, including duct systems and drain pans
Required
What we look for
  • Membership or willingness to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Vocational School four-year program or an associate degree in mechanical systems, air conditioning, or related fields.
  • At least 1 year of industry experience or servicing mechanical systems in HVAC.
  • Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site prep, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally.
  • Ability to explain technical info to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership skills to support activities of mechanics on non-critical equipment.

Pay range: $16.97 hourly, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits provided through a local labor union per the collective bargaining agreement.
