Job summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an HVAC Training & Safety Officer in Chapel Hill, NC. The role develops and delivers safety and technical training for HVAC personnel and oversees training records.

Responsibilities include hands-on instruction, monitoring safety equipment, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on DX refrigeration systems, boilers, and related equipment on a biotechnology and healthcare campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience in HVAC trade areas may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
• EPA 608 universal refrigerant certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver safety and technical training for HVAC personnel.
• Create lesson plans, training materials, and schedules.
• Provide hands-on instruction emphasizing safe work practices and proper use of safety equipment.
• Monitor, inspect, and maintain safety equipment; maintain training records.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance on DX refrigeration equipment and boilers.
• Troubleshoot complex control circuits and repair refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical systems.
