Job summary

Miami University is seeking an Assistant Manager Trades Shop (HVAC) to supervise the HVAC shop and oversee preventive maintenance for university facilities. The role includes directing at least five skilled staff and ensuring work quality and adherence to schedules.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. A valid driver’s license is required, and the position involves evaluating new materials and equipment and managing inventory and costs.

Qualifications

• Requires 18 months of training beyond high school in a skilled trade and four years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to be a qualified driver under the University MVR policy.

Responsibilities

• Supervises at least five skilled trades personnel in the HVAC shop; enforces policies; prioritizes schedules and assigns tasks; trains, monitors and evaluates performance; makes recommendations regarding discipline.
• Manages preventive maintenance program of HVAC systems.
• Oversees shop operations; sets priorities; prepares cost estimates; impacts staff retention; participates in selection/onboarding of new team members.
• Reviews completed work of employees and contractors; ensures necessary changes are made.
• Researches and evaluates new materials and equipment; makes recommendations regarding purchase.
