Job summary

CTECS HVAC Instructors teach HVAC technologies and develop lesson plans, fostering student learning in both lab and classroom at Emmett T O'Brien Technical High School in Ansonia, CT.

They provide tutoring, maintain records, collaborate on curriculum and professional development, and partner with local businesses to connect students with real-world opportunities. Strong emphasis on safety and NFPA/HVAC standards.

Qualifications

• Eight years of employment and/or teaching experience in HVAC or related field.
• S-1 HVAC contractor's license issued by the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is required at time of application.
• Current OSHA 10- Construction Industry Certification.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
• Connecticut Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proper endorsements required to operate a CTECS STV within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach HVAC courses and develop and design lesson/unit plans to foster student learning in both lab and classroom settings.
• Provide tutoring and academic counseling, maintain classroom records, and assess student coursework.
• Collaborate with colleagues and industry partners to keep curricula current and align with modern industry practices; participate in professional development and district meetings.
