Job summary

JLL is offering an HVAC internship in Spartanburg, SC. This program provides hands-on training with experienced HVAC technicians, focusing on preventative maintenance, system diagnostics, and knowledge of building systems within a facilities management context.

You will learn to read mechanical drawings, operate testing equipment, and document activities while supporting energy efficiency initiatives. Safety training and a refrigerant license are part of the pathway.

Qualifications

• Current or recent education in HVAC, mechanical engineering, facilities management, or related field.
• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Good communication abilities and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and technical instructions.
• Willingness to work in varied environments (mechanical rooms, rooftops, occupied spaces).
• Obtain a refrigerant license as part of internship.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist experienced HVAC technicians during routine maintenance, repairs, and system inspections.
• Participate in preventative maintenance procedures for HVAC equipment including air handlers, chillers, boilers, and control systems.
• Learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings, building plans, and equipment specifications.
• Assist in diagnosing HVAC system issues using proper testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and system performance in facility management systems.
• Support energy efficiency initiatives by learning to monitor system performance and identify optimization opportunities.
• Participate in safety training and apply proper safety procedures.
• Attend technical training sessions to build knowledge of HVAC theory, system design, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with facilities team members to understand system integration with building operations.
