Job summary

Vandemark Heating and Cooling seeks an on-site Heating Air Conditioning Technician in Woodbine, IA to install, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps.

You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and complete repairs safely while coordinating with the office for scheduling and parts, with occasional on-call support. EPA refrigerant handling knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance for HVAC systems.
• Working knowledge of electricity and electrical components related to heating and cooling equipment.
• Basic plumbing skills relevant to HVAC and water heater installation and repair.
• Understanding of EPA regulations and refrigerant handling; EPA certification or ability to obtain it is preferred.
• Previous experience as an HVAC technician or in a closely related trade is highly beneficial.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely, read technical manuals, and interpret wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to travel to customer sites in the service area.
• Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High school diploma or equivalent; formal HVAC training or apprenticeship is a plus.
• Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting equipment, working in confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps.
• Diagnose system issues, perform troubleshooting, conduct preventive maintenance, and complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.
• Explain findings and recommended solutions to customers, and document services performed.
• Follow company and regulatory safety standards, coordinate with the office on scheduling and parts, and support on‑call or emergency service needs.
