Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation is seeking an HVAC Technician II to join the Public Services team. The role covers skilled maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, and air conditioners, with electrical work up to 480V and related plumbing/welding tasks.

The technician will work with maintenance staff to ensure system efficiency, test refrigerants, and repair control panels, motors, and compressors, reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or apprenticeship in HVAC, or three years of HVAC experience with substitution.
  • EPA Type II Certification required; EPA Universal within six months of hire.
  • Valid state driver’s license or Utah driving privilege; may require Class B.

Responsibilities

  • Install, monitor, repair chillers, boilers, and air-conditioners (3–300 tons).
  • Service environmental control systems and relate piping, welding, and ductwork.
  • Mount compressors and condensers; install duct work and connect control panels.
  • Test systems, recharge refrigerant, log refrigerant usage and reclamation.
  • Replace breakers, thermostats, wiring; support HVAC Technician I tasks.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Maintenance Coordinator.
