Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking an HVAC technician to repair and maintain city-owned facilities. The role covers installation and service of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency response.

The ideal candidate has formal HVAC training and hands-on experience with boilers, chillers, BAS/BMS, and building systems. This is a full-time, on-site position with city benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of a vocational or technical program in HVAC or related field preferred.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience installing and servicing commercial HVAC systems.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Preference for five or more years of commercial HVAC experience in institutional settings.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and replace commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and control systems.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance, system performance testing, and leak checks.
• Respond to emergency HVAC failures and coordinate with contractors.
