Job summary

LAUKOA in Charleston, SC seeks an HVAC Mechanic I to assist with maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC systems at the FLETC Charleston facility. You will support senior technicians in ensuring heating, cooling, and ventilation operate safely and efficiently while gaining hands‑on experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining HVAC components, performing routine maintenance, aiding diagnosis of issues, and ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years HVAC service or maintenance experience.
• Proficiency with system controllers (e.g., Trane Tracer Summit).
• EPA 608 certification required; universal preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of HVAC systems including air handlers, pumps, thermostats, and ductwork.
• Perform routine filter changes, coil cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance.
• Support diagnosis of HVAC issues under guidance of senior mechanics.
• Record service data and report issues to lead or supervisory personnel.
