Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks an experienced HVAC Technician to monitor, maintain, adjust and repair campus HVAC systems. You will work on chillers, AHUs, drives, motors, pumps, and refrigeration units, ensuring safety and energy efficiency.

On a rotating basis, you will be on call for one week and may work a weekend shift; essential personnel during disasters. Ideal candidates bring hands-on HVAC expertise, a current EPA Universal Certification, and a strong commitment to safety

Qualifications

• EPA Universal Certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of HVAC experience.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs, and inspects HVAC/Refrigeration equipment and related systems such as chillers, AHU, drives, motors, pumps.
• Recharge refrigerants and verify proper operation after power events; calibrate controls.
• Overhaul compressors and condensers; diagnose and repair HVAC equipment.
• Coordinate repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator.
• Supervise and instruct lower-grade mechanics; report issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform related duties as required.
